The Inspiration behind the Manchester bee pendant.
I created the bee pendant as a tribute to all of those affected by the Manchester bombings.
The Manchester bee has long been a symbol for the hard-working people of Manchester.
After the Manchester arena bombing, the bee became a symbol for the community pulling together.
I have visited the Manchester arena many times over the years to see some of the biggest artists in the music industry. The events of that night could affect the next generation from seeing their favourite bands and pop stars live. Due to the tragedy of that evening security was improved at the arena and within a few months, I was back there for the Arena opening gig to see some of my favourite artists The Courteeners, Noel Gallagher and the Blossoms the evening was wonderful and a really lovely tribute to everyone affected.
Manchester also launched Bee in the city a wonderful event where statues of bees were painted by celebrities and placed around the city. The bees were auctioned to raise money for charity. After seeing the bees I decided to create the bee pendant.
I wanted to re create the bee symbol that I had seen all around the city of Manchester and turn it in to jewellery. I made the pendants in silver or gold as jewellery is very personal so you can choose your favourite colour.
The bees are three dimensional and come on an adjustable chain.
Every time I wear my bee it reminds me of the strength and sense of community from the Manchester people.
The bee necklace has since become a big trend with celebrities such as Holly Willoughby and Ariana Grande wearing them.
